Herbert Grandage III, of Vero Beach, died on Aug. 28, 2010.
Herb was born in Stratford, Conn., on Oct. 3, 1920. He was a graduate of William Hall High School and Mt. Herman School for boys then graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., in 1943.
At Wesleyan, he participated in soccer, swimming and was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity.
Herb and Jan were married in 1945 while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Herb joined the Samuel Moore Company of Aurora, Ohio; he retired in 1979. Herb, and his wife Jan, moved to Vero Beach in 1979.
They travelled extensively in their motor homes during the summer months covering the USA, Mexico, Canada and Alaska twice. They retired from traveling in 2005, built a house in Trenton, Maine where they spent their summers.
Herb is survived by his loving wife, Jan; daughter, Kim Nadel (Mark ), of Canton, Ohio; son, Brad (Judy), of Vero Beach; daughter, Lisa Grandage, of Vero Beach; son, John (Patty), of McKinney, Texas; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many great friends. He loved them all very much.
Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, at St. Augustine of Canterbury at 11 a.m. in Vero Beach, where Herb and Jan have been faithful and active parishioners since it opened.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to VNA Hospice at 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Florida 32960 and St. Augustine Church at 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32968.
