Earl Edward Robertson Jr., 81, Vero Beach

Earl Edward Robertson Jr., 81, died Aug. 22, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Kansas City, Mo., lived in Vero Beach since 2006, and divided his time between Kansas City, Vero Beach and Ohio. He attended Border Star Elementary, Pembroke Country Day School, Wentworth Military Academy and the University of Kansas. Before retiring, he owned Neal Boats and Motors and was president and owner of E.E. Robertson Farms, Armstrong, Mo.

He was a boat dealer, distributor and builder. He was a past president of the Kansas City Marine Dealers Association, was involved in starting the Lake Olathe Water Ski Club (later Mo-Kan), and was past treasurer and vice president of the American Water Ski Educational Foundation, which honored him in 1999 with the Award of Distinction for his contributions to the sport of water skiing.

He was a member of the Boicort Hunting Association and a charter member of the Carriage Club. 

Survivors include his wife, Helen Taylor Robertson; daughters, Sara Elizabeth Robertson of Seattle and Barbara Ann Robertson and LeeAnn Robertson, both of Kansas City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Hocker Robertson of Seattle; first wife of 35 years, Nancie Rideout Robertson; and sister, Margaret Ann Robertson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hibiscus Children’s Center, 1145 12th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. 

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at McGilley State Line Chapel, Kansas City, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com.
