Sponsorships, golfers still wanted for H.A.L.O.’s In the Ruff tournament

SEBASTIAN – There is less than one week left and organizers of a golf tournament and community event benefiting Sebastian’s H.A.L.O. and Stray No More are busy signing up last-minute golfers and seeking sponsors.

“It’s gotten bigger” than expected, organizer Kim Kern said. “I’m surprised.”

They already have eight corporate sponsors, including Reliable Septic Tank Services, which claimed the $25,000 Hole in One Sponsor. But more are always welcome.

In the final days leading up to the In the Ruff Golf Tournament at the Indian River Golf Club organizers are shifting their focus to getting the general public out for the fun, even if they’re not playing the course.

On Saturday, Aug. 28, at least 17 teams of golfers will take to the course. Golfing starts at 9 a.m. and is expected to wrap up around 2 p.m.

“We do still have room,” Kern said, estimating another 40 golfers could join in and fill the course.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be booths set up for professional pet portraits and for adoptions. Low cost vaccinations will also be available.

“Dr. Sara Mathews and Dr. Dan Clifton are generously donating their time and services to this vaccination clinic,” Kern said. The clinic will be set up near the clubhouse.

Individual vaccines will cost $15 or vaccine packages, for Bordetella, Rabies, Da2PP and heartworm test are available for $60.

Feline Leukemia tests will be available for $25 and a package including the feline leukemia test, the FVRCP and Rabies vaccination will cost $45.

The low-cost vaccinations are meant to help those who have had to choose between keeping their pets up-to-date on their shots or take care of their bills.

“It’s that or pay the electric bill,” Kern said.

Along with offering low-cost shots, H.A.L.O. and Stray No More will have cats and dogs available for adoption inside their “Chill Zone.”

Inside the Chill Zone will be information on low-cost spay and neuter programs in the area.

The public is invited to bring their pets and have professional photographs taken as well as join in on the silent auction.

“Some of the fantastic items we have available are guided fishing tours, airboat rides, original handmade silver jewelry, a lot of items for cat and dog lovers, as well as $400 in cosmetic services and much more.”

Businesses, or individuals, wishing to sponsor the event or learn more about how to register, should e-mail Kim Kern at lesconcierge@yahoo.com. Her business, Les Concierges of Vero Beach, LLC, is the event planner.

They can also call Kern at (772) 360-9294 or Linda Kline at (772) 321-0961.
