Fall classes at Riverside Children’s Theatre

VERO BEACH — Riverside Children’s Theatre has announced that its fall classes in drama, dance and voice will begin Tuesday, September 7.  The fall session will run until November 12 for the theatre conservatory and December 10 for the dance conservatory. Classes are offered for children aged 4 through high school.

After school workshops include a full slate of beginning, intermediate and advanced classes in drama, dance and voice – 50 offerings in all. Students may sign up for a full year of classes or one semester.

Classes are taught by theatre and dance professionals including Riverside staff members Kevin Quillinan and Angelo Cerniglia as well as part time faculty Deborah Quillinan, Beth McKenzie, Adam Schnell, Yvonne Miller and Camilo Rodriguez.

Registrations are currently being accepted at the children’s theatre offices.

Tree worker seriously hurt after falling from bucket truck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A tree company worker has broken bones after falling at least 10 feet from a bucket truck Thursday, fire rescue crews said. Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to the incident at 10:17 a.m. in the 1100 block of 20th Street, Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The man fell 10 to 15 feet at a worksite. Kofke said the man, in his 30's, suffered a possible broken leg and other broken bones. The man was conscious when he was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said. It was unclear what town the man lives in. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. Construction worker falls 16 ft from beam, hospitalized

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A construction worker continues to recover from traumatic injuries after falling 16 feet from a beam Tuesday, officials said. The man was taken to a trauma center in Fort Pierce. "Due to the height of the fall, there was possible internal injuries," Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The worker, in his 50's, was pouring cement onto the beam about 4 p.m. Tuesday at a construction site in the 6500 block of 41st Street, Kofke said. The man fell from the beam and landed on concrete.
