Johnnie C. Crotts, 72, Vero Beach

Johnnie C. Crotts, 72, of Vero Beach, died Friday, July 22, 2010, at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Crotts was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Stuart, Va., and moved to Vero Beach 45 years ago from Chesapeake, Va. He was the owner of C.A.R.S. Salvage in Vero Beach for 20 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Eric) Hein, of Vero Beach; brother, Gary Crotts, of High Point, N.C.; and sister Sylvia Youngblood, of Stuart, Va.

His memorial service will take place Sunday, July 25, 2010, from 1 – 4 p.m. at his residence. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice/Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. Slight dip for July beach attendance compared to last year

VERO BEACH — Beachgoers are hitting the shores this summer all while practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. The city's three guarded beaches had a slight dip in attendance numbers in July compared to last year, according to a Vero Beach Lifeguard Association report. Last month, 86,095 people flocked to Jaycee Park Beach, Humiston Park Beach and South Beach Park, lifeguards said. This number is less than the 86,686 beachgoers who hit the sand in July 2019. In July of 2018, the city set an attendance record when the beaches had 93,000 visitors, lifeguards said.
