Earl L. Barnard, 80, Vero Beach

Earl L. Barnard, 80, of Vero Beach, died July 19, 2010. He was born in Swampscott, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach since 1996, coming from Shrewsbury, Mass. Before retirement, he was a private computer consultant. Previously, he was employed by the General Electric Co./Honeywell Information Systems for 34 1/2 years, taking early retirement in 1987.

He volunteered at Indian River Medical Center for more than six years. He was a member of the Masons in Belmont, Mass. He was a graduate of Swampscott High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Boston University.

Survivors include his sons, Paul L. Barnard, of Seaford, Va., Scott G. Barnard, of Loudon, Tenn., and Lawrence E. Barnard, of Eastampton, N.J.; brothers, Stuart Barnard, of Barefoot Bay, and Howard Barnard, of Lynn, Mass.; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion J. (Perreault).
