Seacoast celebrates campaign success with Education Foundation

VERO BEACH – The Education Foundation of Indian River County recently announced its success in collecting over $30,000 in donations for the purchase of school supply kits.

The community donations collected at Seacoast National Bank’s branch locations will provide over 2,000 school children with backpacks loaded with the fundamental necessities to begin their school year.  Distribution of the backpacks to economically disadvantaged primary and secondary students in Indian River County will be facilitated at participating schools in mid-August.

“Monetary donations are important because we can negotiate the purchase of fully-stocked backpacks at a fraction of what it would cost to purchase even the backpack alone at retail value,” explained Cynthia Falardeau, Executive Director, Education Foundation of Indian River County. “Our success in this campaign is due in part to offering our donors the convenience of multiple Seacoast locations around the county. They can simply drive up to the teller window and deposit their check or cash donations in our account.”

The need to support students is a year round effort.  The Education Foundation will continue to collect donations to purchase additional backpacks throughout the coming school year.  Seacoast will accept donations at any Indian River County branch location on behalf of the 2011 Education Foundation school supply fund (#4200037891).  A $15 donation will provide one child with a fully stocked backpack.
