Take the path less traveled with these four family destinations

Disney World is great, but it might be a little overboard if your family goes there every year. Finding a new vacation that suits your whole family can be tough, but it’s not impossible.

When you’re thinking about your next family road trip, consider these four destinations – one for each region of the U.S.

East Coast: Waterbury, Vt.

If your family is into the outdoors, this central Vermont town offers about everything you can imagine as hiking, skiing and fishing are all popular activities. History is also alive in Waterbury, amidst rolling hills, as its central village features many historic buildings including a restored train station from 1875. And the whole family will enjoy touring perhaps the most famous destination in Waterbury — the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory.

South: Rock City, Ga.

Located just across the border from Chattanooga, Tenn., this location is filled with spectacular rock formations with interesting names like Fat Man’s Squeeze, Goblin’s Underpass and Lover’s Leap, where it is believed that you can see seven states when the sky is clear. Family attractions include Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village with fairytale characters that glow in the dark, an inclined mountain railroad and a corn maze in the fall.

West Coast: Prescott, Ariz.

Located about two hours north of Phoenix and about the same distance from the Grand Canyon, this town personifies the Old West, as it is home to the world’s oldest rodeo, an attraction both adults and children will enjoy. The nearby Prescott National Forest offers almost 450 miles of scenic mountain trails that can be accessed by horseback and the town’s Whiskey Row saloons are a popular stop for adults.

Appalachia: Memphis, Tenn.

Graceland and Sun Studios are popular stops for lovers of country music history and those looking to discover the history of the blues can hop on Route 61 to the Mississippi Delta. Take your kids to see the Peabody Ducks march at the historic hotel in downtown Memphis and enjoy of the country’s best barbecue for very reasonable prices.

As you think about taking your family on a road trip, it might also be time to consider checking out auto insurance quotes if you’ve haven’t shopped around for car insurance for quite some time. In addition to providing free car insurance quotes, Allstate also offers more travel tips at Allstate.com.
