Essie Mae Barnett, 58, died July 4, 2010, at her home.
She was born in Vero Beach and attended Gifford High School.
She retired from Leroy Smith & Sons Packing House after more than 20 years of employment and then worked as a cook at Dodgertown Country Club and Indian River County School Board.
She was a member of The Holy Temple of God in Gifford.
Survivors include her daughters, Tonya Robinson McDonald of Vero Beach, Sonya Davis Ingram of Orlando, Yvette Hanson Gadson of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Tommy Overtree of Valdosta, Ga., Lee Arthur Robinson Jr. of Vero Beach, Dale Robinson of West Palm Beach; sisters, Barbara Perkins, Carolyn Robinson McLendon, Arnetha Robinson Myles and Kathy Robinson, all of Vero Beach; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Arthur Robinson Sr. and Bessie Morgan Overtree and a sister, Glenda Robinson.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. July 9 at St. Elizabeth Church of Deliverance, Gifford. A homegoing service will be at 3 p.m. July 10 at New Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford, with Pastor Demetrius Webb officiating.
