DIVA Boot Camp provides guidance to teen girls

VERO BEACH — Children’s Home Society (CHS) is conducting its third annual DIVA Boot Camp through July 28th for all girls living in Baines Hall Girls Group Home in Vero Beach. Sponsored by John’s Island Community Service League, DIVA, as in Dynamic, Intelligent, Vivacious and Attractive, is a fun, informative program that helps build confidence and strength for girls ages 12-17.  Four different programs over a six-week period focus on Empowerment, Health & Fitness, Outward Appearance, and Etiquette.

DIVA Boot Camp rolled out with Dr. Josefina Monasterio leading the Empowerment session at CHS’s new Youth Transition Center.  Health & Fitness kicks off with Zumba, the Latin fitness dance craze, conducted by. Scott and Sandra Redfield, owners of 14th Street Dance Studio.

Stephanie Poppalardo and Yulin, of Yulin Day Spa, will lead Outward Appearance.  The graduation session, conducted by Attorney Cynthia Roden, will include dinner and an Etiquette session at a surprise location.

Originally created by CHS volunteer, Wendy Shafranski, DIVA Boot Camp programs continue to be led by CHS volunteers.

“Last summer’s program was so popular, we are thrilled to be able to offer it again this year.” says Jan Huffert, Executive Director of Children’s Home Society, Treasure Coast Division.  “The girls in Baines Hall gain tremendous confidence from the individualized instruction and attention.”
