Boil water noticed posted for county residents on 11th Avenue

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Twenty-two Indian River County water customers on 11th Avenue will be without water until about 5 p.m. Thursday because of a water main break. The outage will require residents to boil their water after water service returns.

Upon restoration of water service, the Indian River County Utilities Department advises that all water used for the following be boiled (a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient):

Drinking

Cooking

Making ice

Brushing teeth

Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.

A rescission notice will be distributed.
