VERO BEACH — The Senior Resource Association hosted their Annual 5k Freedom Run/ Fun Walk at Riverside Park on Monday, May 31, Memorial Day.
Awards were presented for top runners in each of the eight age groups, from 14 & under to 70 & over. The overall male winner of the race was 16 year old Austin Wade who ran the race in 17.06 minutes. Lotte Brannigan, age 36, was the overall female winner, coming in at 19.29 minutes. This year’s race raised over $ 8,000 for the Senior Resource Association.
In special honor of the race being held on Memorial Day, Senior Resource Association recognized 18 members of our US troops stationed in the Gulf who raced there and submitted their times post-race.
The race was at Riverside Park also served as a drop site the community to bring donations for care packages that will be sent to US troops overseas.
“All proceeds from our annual 5K race support the Senior Resource Association programs and services,” says Karen Diegl, SRA President and CEO. “We had over 150 runners and walkers of all ages come out this year and show their support.”
