VERO BEACH — Andrew Molloy was installed by Florida District Exchange Clubs president Eric Menger as the 37th president of Exchange Club of Indian River at the Club’s annual banquet held June 11 at Culinary Capers in Vero Beach.
Other 2010-2011 officers include president-elect R.J. MacMillan, secretary Nancy Gollnick, and treasurer Joan Barcus. New members of the Board of Directors are Melinda Branand and Michele Knight. Tia Beinhower, Aaron Bowles, Bill Depp, and Robert Poore will continue serving on the Board with immediate past president Ed Kay. Jan Binney, Brian Curley, Jenny Frederick, Dawn Redstone, and Scott Wallace are outgoing Board members.
Jenny Frederick is this year’s Exchangite of the Year. She was honored for her ongoing accomplishments and excellent service as Board member and secretary, chair of the social events and Foundation grants committees, and active participation as a volunteer for activities with youth and member of multiple club committees.
Florida District President Menger announced that Peter Armfield received the Florida’s Unsung Hero of the Year award at the District Convention held May 14-16 in Jacksonville. The state Exchange Clubs present this award to honor an Exchangite who, on a continued basis and over a period of several years, has contributed to the overall success of the club, and for which no other recognition has been given.
Exchange Club of Indian River meets for lunch at Culinary Capers each Wednesday at noon. Meetings feature programs on a wide range of business, government and civic, charity, personal, and professional topics. It provides the community with programs in youth activities, service, and Americanism.
Through participation in its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse, the Exchange Club of Indian River’s Foundation supports a number of local youth-related charities. Its major fundraisers include the Annual Exchange Club Blue Water Open “Dolphin Mania” Charity Fishing Tournament held each May and the Winner-Fest Raffle held in December.
