Beverly B. Norris, 62, Vero Beach

Beverly B. Norris, 62, died June 16, 2010, at VNA Hospice House.

She was born in Fairmont, N.C., and lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Ramrod Key.

She received her associate’s degree from Kings Business College, Charlotte, N.C. She worked for the Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County for 15 years, and served as assistant director.

Survivors include her sons, Patrick W. Norris and Michael A. Norris, both of Vero Beach; and one grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Substance Awareness Council, 1507 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. June 26 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with a memorial service at 4 p.m.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
