Anna R. (DiRusso) Coleman, 87, died June 1, 2010 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

She was born in Leominster, Mass.,and lived in Vero Beach for 9 years coming from her birth place. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Starr (Rick) of Vero Beach; sons, Kevin Coleman (Sandra) of Leominster, Steven Coleman (Christine) of Townsend, Mass., John Coleman of Madison, Wis.; sister, Mary Lou Fusco of Leominster; brothers, Victor DiRusso, Philip DiRusso, Louis DiRusso and David DiRusso all of Leominster; grandchildren, Sabrina Starr of Vero Beach, Christa Starr (Dan Milano) of Los Angeles, Rick Starr (Sarah) of Vero Beach, Tiffany Starr of Vero Beach, Alexandra Parker (Tyler) of Vero Beach, Benjamin Coleman (Suzanne) of Wake Forest, N.C., Bryan Coleman of Boston, Dylan Coleman of Townsend, Mass., Andrew Coleman, Daniel Coleman, and Laura Coleman all of Madison; great-grandchildren, Brandon Starr of Vero Beach, Grace Starr Griffeth of Vero Beach and Bryson Coleman of Wake Forest and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Coleman; a son, Barry Coleman; her parents, David and Amelia (Cavicchio) DiRusso; a sister Gilda Caffoni and brothers, Albert, Dante, John, Joseph, Francis and Peter DiRusso.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse’s Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Anna’s Catholic Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA 01453.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
