Twin Cities travel is even better with cheap flights

One of the best places to visit in the summer and take your family for some great fun is actually two cities bumping shoulders in the northern part of the United States. Known as the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., have an abundance of Minnesota charm, physical activities, historical sights, scenic beauty and the biggest shopping mecca of the world to keep any person entertained for a week, or even just a long weekend.

Purchase cheap airline tickets to the airport, and you can quickly catch a short Light Rail train to the Mall of America (MOA), with more than 400 stores and restaurants to capture your eye. If you are in town for a rainy day, just want to browse unique stores or are interested in catching a roller coaster ride while inside, MOA needs to be a stop on your tour. Make sure you’re wearing comfortable walking shoes, because there’s plenty to see and do.

The Twin Cities are also located near beautiful Minnesota state and county parks, most of which feature some of the famed 10,000 lakes the state is known for. Your family can easily rent canoes for a paddle up and down rivers and around lakes, pay for a daily fishing license to try and catch “the big one,” hike the many miles of trails through woods, fields and over prairies or pitch a tent and roast some marshmallows for yummy s’mores.

Another great feature of Minneapolis is Lake Calhoun, which is surrounded by walking trails, picnic areas, sporting facilities, an archery range, fishing docks and water craft rentals. On beautiful summer days, this area is crowded with locals and tourists alike, taking in the sun and enjoying the outdoors.

If the outdoors isn’t your priority for this trip, consider checking out Uptown or 50th and France, two neighborhoods in the Minneapolis area with fantastic and unique restaurants, niche shopping opportunities and fantastic happy hour opportunities. When you book your cheap flights online, look for hotel deals in these neighborhoods as well.

In St. Paul, don’t miss out on the all the historical and educational opportunities. The Science Museum of Minnesota has rotating exhibits and an Omnitheater to keep the exhibits fresh and exciting for families. There is also the State Capitol, the Minnesota Historical Society and tours available of the James J. Hill House.

The Twin Cities also have plenty of sporting opportunities to catch with the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves and the Wild playing baseball, football, basketball and hockey, respectively.

Find cheap flights to Minneapolis and St. Paul through online travel sites like Travelocity and plan a trip for fun and relaxation.
