Thomas C. “Tom” Adkins, 76, died May 17, 2010, in Sebastian.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach for 13 years, coming from Brevard County. He served in the Marine Corps. Before retirement, he was a deputy sheriff with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
He attended Ohio State University and earned his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Brevard Community College in Melbourne.
Survivors include his son, Scott Adkins of Vero Beach; daughter, Jenni Adkins of Tampa; sisters, Lou Shirley of Tarpon Springs and Sue Rhea of Naples; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; daughter, Tori; and sister, Jane Williams.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 22 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, followed by a service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Murray Hicks officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard.
