UPDATE: Bicyclist identified from fatal crash on Old Dixie Highway

VERO BEACH – A bicyclist was struck and killed on Old Dixie Highway Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The bicyclist’s identity is pending notification of his next of kin. However, he was 50 years old and a resident of Ft. Pierce. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the cyclist was traveling south on Old Dixie Highway in the northbound lane in the area of 10th Place when a northbound driver struck him.

 

The driver, Patricia M. Jaholkowski, 24, of Vero Beach, was driving a 2001 Ford F-250. She was not cited in the crash and was not injured.

FHP said the bicyclist was at fault because he was traveling in the wrong direction.

The cyclist was identified as 50-year-old Mark Alan Hector of Fort Pierce.
