VERO BEACH — Mark your calendar and plan to attend this summer’s “très- sheik” costume dance party Rock the Casbah, where “new wave” enters the land of the Arabian Nights. Join us for Rock the Casbah on Saturday, August 21 from 6:30 to 10:00 pm at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, organized by the Friends of the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
Mousse your hair straight up, slip into the tight jeans, ripped tees and leather of an 80’s rocker for your Rock the Casbah costume, or come Arabian and dress in the loose desert style of robes and scarves, or try the harem-look as we celebrate the ability of music to cross cultural barriers. At Rock the Casbah you can dance to your favorite new wave rock tunes from the 80’s performed by Rubix Cubed in the Sultan of Swing Dance Club. Whether you “pogo” or belly dance you’ll enjoy moving to tunes by bands such as The Clash, Soft Cell and Blondie.
Peruse the Moroccan Marketplace Raffle items and buy your chances from the Genie-in-the-Lamp to make your wishes for prizes come true. Relax in the Hookah Room or enjoy a drink from the Desert Oasis bar (wine and beer complimentary, cash bar). Guests will feast on heavy hors d’oeuvres with a Middle Eastern flare.
Tickets are $50.
