Betty Ruth Roddenberry, 72, Vero Beach

Betty Ruth Roddenberry, 72, died May 14, 2010, at Palm Garden of Vero Beach. She was born in Winter Beach and was a longtime resident of Indian River County. She worked for Jackie’s Cash and Carry, Piper Aircraft and was the first woman cab driver for City Cab in Vero Beach. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include her son, Chris Roddenberry of Tallahassee; daughter, Donna Burton of Orlando; brothers, Julian Roddenberry of Tallahassee, Thomas Rimes of Sebastian and Calvin Rimes of Danville, Ill,; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Lewis and JoAnne Roddenberry; and brother, Buzzy Roddenberry. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. May 22 at Winter Beach Cemetery, Winter Beach.
