Local student receives appointment to West Point

VERO BEACH — Jacob ‘Jake’ Moore, son of John and Valerie Moore of Vero Beach, has received an appointment to the Class of 2014 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Moore graduated from Indian River Charter High School in 2009 and is scheduled to graduate from West Point Preparatory School at Ft. Monmouth, N.J., in May, 2010, where he was a member of the golf team, letter winner in fencing and the men’s lacrosse team manager. The prospective members of the Class of 2014 will report to West Point for the first time on June 28, 2010. West Point was founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering and its mission remains to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be committed to the values of duty, honor and country and to be prepared for a career of service as an officer in the United States Army.
