Philip H. Besancon, 91, died May 1, 2010, at Indian River Estates Medical Center.
He was born in Rossburg, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Ithaca, N.Y.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II. He received his bachelor of science degree and medical certificate from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.
He practiced medicine in Cazenovia, N.Y., and radiology in Ithaca. Before retirement, he was chief radiologist of Tompkins Community Hospital. He was a former director of Ithaca Yacht Club and also served on its board.
He was a former president of the Tompkins County Medical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gertrude S. Besancon of Vero Beach; son, Philip J. Besancon of Centennial, Colo.; daughter, Cynthia Walsh of Vero Beach; and three grandchildren.
