One dead after crash on I-95 in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened after a fatal crash shut down both directions of travel this afternoon, authorities said. Southbound lanes remain shut down, though the inside lane is expected to reopen soon.

Lt. Tim Frith, of Florida Highway Patrol, the woman, later identified as Lucy Hockaday, 86, of Hollywod, was traveling northbound on I-95 in a Dodge sedan crossed the median and struck a flat bed semi-truck shortly after noon at the 149 mile marker.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
