Mary Cady Venner, 82, Vero Beach

Mary Cady Venner, 82, died April 27, 2010, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

She was born in Guaro, Cuba, and lived in Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from Annapolis, Md.

She attended schools in the United States and graduated from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

She was a member of the St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Vista Royale Tennis Group and the Ladies Nine Hole Golf Group.

Survivors include daughters, Jennifer MacDonald of Stevensville, Md., Anita Venner of Monrovia, Md., and Suzanne Mejia of Mustang, Okla.; son, Charles Venner of Rockville, Md.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Venner III, and daughter, Lynn Marie King.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
