VERO BEACH — Every summer the Gifford Youth Activity Center offers well supervised programs that combine education with recreation for local at-risk youth. As in previous years, the 2010 season will have a list of youth who need financial assistance to participate. Your underwriting support helps Gifford Youth Activity Center provide opportunities for these children to succeed both educationally and in life!
The Center is not a state funded organization; it is a non-profit organization that depends on public donations. By supporting the “Sponsor-A-Child-for-the-Summer” program your donation makes it possible for more youth to participate in GYAC’s Summer Programs. For as little as $500 you can Sponsor-A Child-for-the-Summer. Donations in any amount are most appreciated.
Educational studies show children who participate in academic activities over the summer come back to school ready to learn. Research suggests children who stop learning over the summer take longer to adjust to the classroom in the fall.
The GYAC program enables local youth to continue to learn and grow throughout the summer while minimizing the child’s chances of getting into mischief.
