INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A Vero Beach area man was arrested, accused of threatening three others with what they thought was a real gun, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities arrested Lorinzo Keith Campbell, 24, of the 2800 block of 69th Terrace, near the Indian River Mall, on Sunday, April 25. He faces three counts of felony aggravated assault and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest without violence. Campbell is being held at the county jail in lieu of $8,500 bail.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Campbell went to the Orangewood Apartment Complex on Sunday where he got into a verbal encounter with one of the three victims. During the incident, the victim told Campbell to leave and that she was going to call her boyfriend.
At that point, Campbell pulled out a black handgun and began approaching the woman in an aggressive manner, telling her “something to the effect of, to call the boyfriend and tell him to bring his ‘heat’ (a firearm) because he was going to kill him,” the deputy wrote in the report.
Deputies responding the scene found Campbell and placed him under arrest. During the arrest, a deputy secured the gun and found it to be a BB gun that “looks extremely realistic,” the report states.
While attempting to put Campbell in the cruiser, Campbell tensed up and attempted to resist arrest, according to the report. In the process, the arresting deputy dislocated a finger.
