Claire Bassett “Moom” Hammett, 92, died April 14, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.
She was born in Pittsburgh and lived in Vero Beach for 14 years, coming from Atlanta. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and was the editor of the university’s paper.
She was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach and was the resident photographer at Indian River Estates West.
Survivors include her sons, William Charles Hammett and Robert Craig Hammett, both of Dallas, Geoffrey Granville Hammett of Atlanta; daughters, Barbara H. Glover of Greensboro, N.C., and Debra Dene Hammett Stancil of Wilkesboro, N.C.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Hammett Jr.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 18, at Indian River Estates West Chapel, Vero Beach.
