Irving W. Ray, 92, Sebastian

Irving W. Ray, 92, died April 10, 2010, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Providence, R.I., and lived in Sebastian for 19 years, coming from West Palm Beach.

He was a general contractor, owning Ray Construction Co. in Riverside, R.I. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, Sebastian. He was a member of the American Legion and Rumford Lions Club in Rumford, R.I.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nelle Ray of Sebastian; sons, William Ray of Warwick, R.I., and Stephen Ray of West Greenwich, R.I.; daughter, Sandra Ray Couto of Warwick, R.I.; brother, Warren Ray of Sanderstown, R.I. 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Harry; sister, Ruth Megathlin; and brother, Harold Ray.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. April 12 at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, Sebastian, with the Rev. Dave Newhart, rector, officiating.

A memorial service will be conducted in Providence at a later date.
