James Bruce Jones, 71, died April 1, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Ideal, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach for 52 years. Before retirement, he owned and operated Jones Spreader Service in Vero Beach for 43 years.
He served in the Georgia National Guard and was a member of New Hope Ministries and cooked for the yearly Cattlemen’s Association gathering.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Vassar Jones of Vero Beach; daughters, Vicky Jones Rohach and Becci Jones Smith, both of Vero Beach; brothers, Herbert Jones of Perry, Ga., and M.L. Jones of Oglethorpe, Ga.; sisters, Marge Hendricks of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Anne Johnson of Reynolds, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. April 2 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
