VERO BEACH — After nine solid seasons, but struggles in the summer slowdown, Carmel’s Restaurant will close on April 15.Owners Carole Bowers and Melissa Lausch sent an e-mail Wednesday to customers announcing the closing, saying they decided to concentrate their “time and efforts at Carmel’s Restaurant and Bar in Asheville, NC.”They e-mail goes on to say:”We will continue the fine food and service you expect from Carmel’s and hope you visit us during the next few weeks. Please take advantage of any unused gift certificates during this time. After May 1st certificates may be redeemed at Carmel’s Restaurant and Bar in Asheville, located at 1 Page Avenue. Thank you for a pleasant experience in Vero Beach.”Carmel’s was among the top tier restaurants in Vero Beach and prided itself on good food and customer service often allowing regulars who ate their more than once a week to make special requests off the menu.
