A Celebration of Stage and Screen May Pops Concert

VERO BEACH — A Celebration of Stage and Screen is the theme of this year’s 21st annual May Pops concert being held on Sunday, May 2 on the Polo Grounds at Windsor to benefit the Indian River Medical Center Foundation.  The Brevard Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Confessore, will once again perform, and Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte will be the guest soloist, bringing to life songs that were first hits on Broadway and found their way to the Big Screen. Ms. Gravitte has had a varied career, taking her from the Broadway Stage to Symphony Hall to television. She has won the prestigious Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, along with a Drama Desk Award Nomination and a New York Showstopper Award. She has performed her nightclub act worldwide, from New York City to London and back again to Atlantic City, sharing the stage with such notables as Jay Leno, Harry Anderson and the legendary George Burns. She has starred in several specials for PBS, including Live from the Kennedy Center, Boston Pops Celebrate Bernstein, Rodger & Hart, and Ira Gershwins 100th birthday celebration from London’s Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall.

Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 5:30 p.m. Lawn tickets are available for $25 and VIP tickets are $200, which include preferred parking and a cocktail reception prior to the concert.  In addition, private cabanas with seating for 10 or 12 people are available. Children under 12 are admitted free to the lawn area only.
