Debbie Macomber to speak at Homeless Family Center luncheon

VERO BEACH — The Homeless Family Center is proud to announce its First Spring Benefit Luncheon at Bent Pine Golf Club on Wednesday, April 21 at 12 p.m., featuring Debbie Macomber, a New York Times bestselling American author as its guest speaker.

Debbie Macomber has authored more than 130 novels and has topped every major bestseller list with more than 75 million copies of her books sold worldwide, and her books have been translated into 23 languages.  Having overcome dyslexia and the advice she would never succeed as a writer, when Debbie speaks, she encourages everyone to go for their dreams. Drawing on her own experience, she also offers tips to those seeking to pursue or change a career, or build family or personal relationships.

Known for her heartwarming tales about small-town life, home and family and enduring friendships, Debbie celebrated the publication of her first cookbook, children’s book and second non-fiction inspirational book in 2009.

Macomber’s Cedar Cove Cookbook, which will be sold in limited quantities during the April 21 luncheon, features 130 recipes. Included are some of Debbie’s favorite family recipes, as well as those cooked by her characters in her popular Cedar Cove series. That series, set in a small Washington town modeled after Port Orchard, where Debbie spends her summers, is nine-books strong, with the tenth, 1022 Evergreen Place, due out in September.

In 2009 Debbie celebrated another career milestone, when a movie starring the much-loved Doris Roberts and based on Debbie’s earlier novel, Mrs. Miracle, was Hallmark Channel’s highest rated movie for the year. The sequel, titled Call Me Mrs. Miracle, after Debbie’s October 2010 novel, will be broadcast in December.

An avid knitter, Debbie also enjoys writing her Blossom Street series about women who meet, knit and develop friendships in a close-knit Seattle community. The latest novel in this series, Hannah’s List, will be out in May.
