Dwane Arthur Krings, 75, died March 9, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Winona, Minn., and lived in Sebastian for seven years coming from Clearwater. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in both the Army and later in the Navy, retiring as a master chief petty officer having served for 37 years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post both of Sebastian. He was active with the Sea Scouts in Sebastian; a member of the Eagle Scout, Troop 6, Winona, Minn.; member of the Owl Patrol; brotherhood member of The Order Of the Arrow (National Camping Honor Society) and member of the Professional Service of the Boy Scouts of America.
He was awarded the District Award of Merit, Skyway District, West Central Florida Council; the American Legion Knot; Sea Badge Conference SR-X ; Adult Religious Award (Lutheran); Distinguished Commissioner Service Award.
He most recently was awarded the Indian River District 2010 Spark Plug Award for service in Sea Scout Ship 501.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Krings of Midway, N.C.; daughter, Katherine Webb of Ashville, N.C.; brother, Bruce Krings of Winona, Minn.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on March 21, at VFW Post 10210, 815 Louisiana Ave., Sebastian.
