VERO BEACH — Opera is perhaps the grandest of arts, combining dramatic singing, beautiful people and opulent settings. On Friday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., guests may experience the magnificence of arias mingled with the elegance of light chamber music, when the Cultural Council of Indian River County presents Opera on the River.
Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Wallach, local philanthropists, opera aficionados and supporters for many years, have graciously opened their riverfront estate, Palacio del Rio, to provide a magnificent setting for the evening’s program. So take out your evening attire– as the season winds down, this event will be a night filled with glorious music, scrumptious hors d’oeuvres, champagne and wine. The evening will feature soprano Angela Mortellaro, who appears this season at the Sarasota Opera; lyric baritone Sean Stork, who recently performed with the Central Florida Lyric Opera; Karen Zarandona as accompanist/soprano and Joshua Zaradona as emcee/tenor. The Sarasate Strings will perform between arias and feature Matt Stott, Violin I; Tom Fritz, Violin II, Wendy Karabensh, Viola; and Joe Loehnis, Cello. For more information about the artists and the program see the Council’s website at www.cultural-council.org.
