VERO BEACH — Vero Beach has been chosen as this year’s site for the Florida Shuffleboard State Pro Masters, bringing the Masters to the east coast for the first time in many years.
Scheduled for April 5-8, 2010, the tournament will be located at the Shuffleboard Courts, on 21st Street in Downtown Vero. Games will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and are free to spectators.
“Each day I hear the pinging sound of the shuffleboard pucks at the courts adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce,” said Sue Hunt, Director of Tourism. “I am delighted that
these courts would be the site of the 50th Anniversary Florida Shuffleboard State Pro Masters and that I would have a front row seat. “
Florida State Shuffleboard Tournaments begin early in October and end late in March. Events are open to anyone 18 and older and are held all over the state. Most of the events are “Doubles” with separate categories for Men and Women.
At the end of the long season, only the top eight Professional Men and the top eight Professional Women earn the right to compete in this most prestigious shuffleboard event.
The Masters is a grueling four-day event. Each person plays 21 games to determine the bragging rights for the “Best of Florida.”
