Charles Bellwoar Hartmann, 76, Vero Beach

Charles Bellwoar Hartmann, 76, died Nov. 11, 2009.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach since 2000, coming from Brussels, Belgium.

He served in the Army. Before retirement, he was employed as a manager by Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Grand Rapids, Mich., Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Toledo, Ohio, and Brussels, where he was a managing director of a joint venture of Owens-Corning Fiberglas and Bayer Chemical of Germany.

He was on the board of EURIMA. In Brussels, he was on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce and a commandeur of the Commanderie de Bordeaux. He gave much time to the Sept. 11, 2001, cause.

He graduated from Rollins College and later did graduate work at the Darden School of the University of Virginia. He was a member of the Longue Vue Club, Fox Chapel Club, Rolling Rock Club and the Royal Waterloo Golf Club.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Helen Hartmann of Vero Beach; daughter, Aleese Mills Hartmann of New York City; son, Charles B. Hartmann Jr. of Atlanta; and sister, Polly Wilson of Longwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vero Beach Community Church, 1901 23rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. March 23 at Vero Beach Community Church.
