Brian K. Randle, 75, Vero Beach

Brian K. Randle, 75, died March 11, 2010, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa.

He was born in Rome, N.Y., and was a seasonal resident of Vero Beach for 14 years, coming from Rome. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Audrey J. Randle of Vero Beach; sons, Jeff Randle of Trumansburg, N.Y., Kevin Randle of Middletown, Del., Brian Randle Jr. of West Leyden, N.Y., Bruce Randle of Lee Center, N.Y., and Neal Randle of Rome; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at a later date in New York.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Family, friends, marines honor ‘protector, hometown hero’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Frank Strahorn was already considered a hero by his family, friends and marine brothers and sisters because of his military service around the world. Then, on June 19, the 34-year-old became a "hometown hero" after he was fatally shot while helping others escape a gunman carrying an AK-47 assault rifle at a Sebastian pizzeria.
