Betty Elaine (Durfee) Mayo, 96, formerly of Sebastian

Betty Elaine (Durfee) Mayo, 96, died on March 7, 2010 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

She had been a resident of Indian River County for 30 years, after spending most of her early life in central and southern California. She just recently left the River Run Community of Sebastian to be closer to her family in California.

Born in Salida, Colo., on Aug 20, 1913, she was the retired owner-operator of Salon Equipment Corporation of Los Angeles, which she took over after the death of her husband Littleton M. Mayo in June of 1964.

She had been active as treasurer of the Chi Rho Chapter of Phi Tau Omega, business women’s sorority. She was also a long time volunteer at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild.

She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Siverson of Summerfield and San Luis Obispo, Calif., grandchildren Tormod Nels Siverson of Oxford, Signe (Siverson) Soules of Califon, N.J., and Trygve Mayo Siverson of Brooklyn, N.Y. and 6 great grandchildren.
