Tennis Marathon to benefit the Homeless Family Center

VERO BEACH — The Second Annual Tennis Marathon to benefit the Homeless Family Center has been expanded to take place from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday, March 27 at the Jungle Club and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Boulevard Village and Tennis Club.

Gerry Berkheimer, Tennis Director at the Jungle Club has expanded the tennis tournament by adding The Boulevard Village & Tennis Club; Kurt Grabher, Tennis Director at The Boulevard will coordinate the second site at the Boulevard to allow more players to participate in this year’s marathon which is open to the public.

Adults and children, ages 10 and up may participate at both sites; parent(s) must be present for children 10 to 16 years old.

The playing cost is $10 per court hour.  Vendor booth cost is $25.

Jungle Club Format: Contact Gerry Berkheimer at 772-321-7800 to register for your court(s) from 6 pm to midnight.

Times to play:   6 to 7 pm, beginners; 7 to 8 pm, advanced beginners (1.5-2.5);  8 to 9 pm, intermediates (3.0-4.0);  9 to 10 pm, advanced (4.5 and up); 10 to 11 pm, beginners; 11 to midnight, everyone.  Any higher-level player may play in any lower-level time slot.

Specials: *Stringing – any stringing with nylon or synthetic-$20

*Rackets for testing/selling, accessories-grip tape, ball clips, caps/visors, t-shirts

*Bring any old/unused rackets for underprivileged kids

The Boulevard Village and Tennis Club Format:  Contact Kurt Grabher 772-778-4200 to reserve court time from 6 pm to 10 pm.

Time to play: 6 pm to 10 pm, beginners, advanced beginners, intermediates and advanced.

$15 Dinner Buffet for players and spectators at The Boulevard’s Sports Bar.

Bring needed items for the centerCleaning supplies, stamps, gift cards from Walmart, Sam’s, or Publix, food donations-in cans/boxes-soup, cereal, rice; (no foods requiring refrigeration), to the courts during marathon hours.  Financial donations you wish to make should be made by check to the Family Homeless Center.
