Robert L. Merian, 87, of Vero Beach, died March 6, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Merian was born Jan. 17, 1923 in Kansas City, Kan. He had been a seasonal resident of Vero Beach from Chagrin Falls, Ohio since the late 1970s and became a full time resident in 1988.
Mr. Merian was a graduate of the University of Northwestern School of Engineering and was President of Mantaline Corp.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy aboard a destroyer after graduating from Midshipman School. An avid golfer, he had served as President of the Madison Country Club in Madison, Ohio, Acacia Country Club in Beachwood, Ohio and NOGA.
He was a member of the Bent Pine Golf Club in Vero Beach since 1978, the RMA, MOOA and the NLUS Treasure Coast.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sadie M. Merian; daughter Lynne (David) Michaud; two grandsons Michael (Kris) and Dan (Carolyn) Beltzer; three great-granddaughters; extended family David and Joseph Plata, Elizabeth (Marco) Quadrelli and Luca Quadrelli; a sister-in-law Sally Merian; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy and his brother Richard Merian.
A memorial service will take place 11 a.m., March 12, 2010 at the Community Church with Rev. Carol Trax officiating and military honors by VFW Post 3918.
