VERO BEACH — Avinash Kumar, the 22-year-old flight student involved in the plane crash in Vero Beach last week, Tuesday was upgraded to good condition by his physician at Holmes Regional Medical Center.Kumar, who was in the passenger seat, suffered a leg injury when the Piper Seneca in which he was riding crash landed into a tree in the backyard of a home in the Sun Villas neighborhood near 12 Street and 34th Avenue. James K. Ross, the instructor, 28, was released Monday from Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce on Monday. He suffered two broken wrists in the crash.The accident happened last Friday when the flight instructor and student were working on touch and go landings and ran into trouble forcing the crash landing about a mile from the Vero Beach airport.National Transportation Safety Board investigator Butch Wilson said the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and as of Monday had yet to talk to either Ross or Kumar. Wilson said he expects to have a preliminary report out sometime this week.
