Robert “Bob” E. Houk, 89, died Feb. 28, 2010, at the Florida Baptist Retirement Center, Vero Beach. He was born in Mooreland, Ind., and was a seasonal resident of Vero Beach since 1980, coming from Indianapolis. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the Caribbean and South Pacific. Before retirement, he was a real estate broker with F.C. Tucker Co. in Indianapolis. He eventually became a managing partner and executive vice president of the state’s largest full service real estate company. He served on the boards of Citizens Gas and Coke Utility, First Indiana Federal Savings Bank and State Life Insurance Co. He was on the boards of Community Hospital, the Children’s Museum, Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation and DePauw University Alumni Association. He was a director and president of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. He belonged to Meridian Hills Country Club in Indianapolis and the Moorings and Hawk’s Nest clubs in Vero Beach. He graduated from De Pauw University. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marion Pfitzner; son, David C. Houk; daughter, Julie Houk Goodrich; and five grandchildren.
