William “Bill” J. Stewart, 89, died March 2, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Belleville, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 20 years, coming from Stuart, where he had resided since 1973.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Seabee. Before retirement, he worked as an engineer for Exxon. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Alice E. Stewart of Vero Beach; daughter, Patricia Pearson of Etna, Calif.; son, Ronald Stewart of La Jolla, Calif.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Russell Stewart, and sister, Grace Lally.
