INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The three-day Italian Food Festival wraps up today, meaning for a few more hours everyone can still be Italian at the Italian-American Civic Association in the area of US 1 and Aviation Boulevard.
The event offers free parking and admission and plenty Italian treats sure to tantalize. On the menu are cannoli, sausage and peppers, tripe and zeppoli.
“This is our rallying cry,” club president Anthony Aversa said in a club newsletter, adding that the festival serves as the club’s main source of income for the following year. The proceeds also help to fund the group’s scholarship program and other non-profit groups. Food tickets are on sale for $1 each, which can be used to purchase the various dishes.
Along with tons of pasta, pizza and sweet treats for the taking, the club also has music and dance for visitors’ enjoyment.
Entertainers lined up include the Indian River Charter High School Jazz Band, Deja Vue, Reckoning and the Bobby Owen Band.
The festival will run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Free parking is available at various locations within walking distance, including at the County Administration complex, the Garden Club, the Veterans Club, and the Newport Club.
