VERO BEACH – A 64-year-old Vero Beach man is out of the county jail on $43,500 bond after authorities arrested him for cocaine possession and driving under the influence.
The Vero Beach Police Department arrested Ivan Parks, of 19th Place, on Sunday, Feb. 21, around 9:30 p.m. when an officer stopped Parks’ vehicle on 21st Street. According to the arresting officer, he noticed a strong odor of alcohol from Parks and “his physical appearance indicated that he might be intoxicated.”
The officer arrested Parks on suspicion of DUI and then searched the vehicle, finding a vial containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine and an envelope with a Viagra pill, the arrest affidavit states. The officer also found a cigar tube in the glove box containing 27 Lortab pills and nine small folded pieces of paper and envelopes containing a small amount of powder and “crack” cocaine, the report states.
Parks faces felony charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell, trafficking hydrocodone, possession of prescription drug without a prescription, and misdemeanor charges of DUI and drug paraphernalia possession, according to his arrest report.
