Ola Mae Smith, 83, died Feb. 9, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She was born in Barney, Ga., and lived in Indian River County for 57 years, coming from Berlin, Ga. Before retirement, she was the owner of Smith Grocery Store in Gifford for 37 years.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Carl Smith of Vero Beach, Victor R. Smith of Lithonia, Ga. and Blake Smith of Melbourne; daughters, Bertha Smith of Hammett-McDonough, Ga., Mary Smith Williams of Atlanta and Gwendolyn Lyles of Snellville, Ga.; brother, Charles B. Huewitt of Delray Beach; sisters, Odessa Green of Gainesville and Catherine Marshall of Delray Beach; and 27 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith; sons, Blair and Earl Smith; sister, Pearlie M. Marshall; and brothers, George Huewitt Jr. and Walter Huewitt.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at Hortense Mills Memorial Funeral Home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 16 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Vero Beach. Burial will be in Gifford Cemetery.
