Opal ‘Ope’ Silverman, 84, Vero Beach

Opal ‘Ope’ Silverman, a lifelong resident of Vero Beach, died Feb. 8, 2010. She was 84.

Her funeral service will be Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Church of God, 20th Avenue with Rev. Jerry Shepherd officiating. She will be laid to rest immediately following at Crestlawn Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Cox-Gifford Funeral Home.

Opal was born June 13, 1926 to Jesse and Sarah Holland in Vero Beach. She married Edgar Lohman and together they raised three sons.

In 1969 she met and married Irv Silverman and they enjoyed a life together of family times and traveling.

She was survived her three sons Lowell and Nancy Lohman, Victor and Mary Lohman, of Ormond Beach and Daryl and Christine Lohman of Tampa; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; her sister Pansy Odom; her sister-in-law Claudia Holland, and her nephews and their families Jimmy Odom, Mark Odom, and Rex Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband Irv Silverman, her brother Gene Holland and her brother-in-law Calvin Odom.
