Alta Winnifred Graves, 104, Vero Beach

Alta Winnifred Graves, 104, died Feb. 3, 2010, at the Indian River Medical Center.

She was born in Shirley, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach since 1944, coming from Springfield, Mass. She worked as the secretary for the Warren Zeuch Agency for 37 years.

She was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach, and a past member of the Vero Beach Country Club, the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Indian River County Historical Society.

Survivors include her nieces, Ellen Graves of West Springfield, Mass., Constance Johnson of Brewster, Mass., Elizabeth Sweet of Marlborough, N.H., and Janice Norton of Bluffton, S.C.; nephews, Earl Graves of Danville, N.H., and Charles Graves of Urbana, Ill.; and her longtime caregiver, Janice Gay of Vero Beach.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Adams Graves, Clyde Graves and Ralph Graves; and sister, Ruth Clark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce at a later date.
