Joseph Joyce Fahey, 78, of Vero Beach and Fair Haven, N.J. died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Miami.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barrie; sons, Mark, Joseph, Tom and Morgan; daughters-in-law, Britt, Elena, and Amy; grand children, Katharine, Matthew, and Devin; and his siblings, Judy Razvillas, Michael Fahey, Sheila Krape, and Ellen Murtha.
Joseph was born March 3, 1931 in Butler, Penn. A scholarship athlete, he played basketball at Louisiana State University, where he received a degree in business administration in 1956.
He began his career in Philadelphia as a sales representative for IBM. Subsequent to IBM, he played a major role in installation of the first hospital information system in the United States at Monmouth Medical Center. In 1969, he founded HCS, a healthcare information systems company, where he continued to act as Chairman of the Board.
He was a member of the Rumson Country Club, the Seabright Beach Club, the Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club, and the John’s Island Club in Vero Beach.
He supported LSU and the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank, N.J. among many others.
