VERO BEACH — The fifth annual Day of Hope – Alzheimer’s Caregiver Conference, presented by the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County, will be held Thursday, March 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at a new venue, the Vero Beach Country Club. The seminar cost is $10 per person.
The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Rosemary Laird, medical director for the Health First Aging Institute in Melbourne. Dr. Laird received her degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago Hospital, earned a master’s in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas and is a board-certified geriatrician and internal medicine physician.
Dr. Laird co-authored Take Your Oxygen First with Leeza Gibbons and Dr. James Huysman, which advises caregivers how to protect their health and happiness while caring for a loved one with memory loss. The book will be available for purchase and signing.
Dr. Laird will be speaking on the newest information on Alzheimer’s Disease and memory loss, and how caregivers can harness the three E’s: Education, Empowerment and Energy, to make the most of the care-giving journey.
